New bottle, same taste for Banks beer

BANKS BEER LOVERS can now have a drink when they are at Kensington Oval, around swimming pools, on cruise boats and other glass-restricted areas.
That's because the beer comes in plastic, after five years of consideration. The first PET beer bottle was done at the Barbados Bottling Company last October 31, and was bottled for distribution from February 27.
During a Press launch for the Banks beer in PET on Friday at Banks Breweries Limited, officials said it was safer at street parties and was half the weight of glass.
Last year, general manager of Banks (Barbados) Breweries Chris St John, made it clear there was no difference between the beer in the PET bottle and that in the glass bottle.
He explained then that the formulation, colour and taste were all the same. "Our PET bottle has barrier protection against oxygen and sunlight which offers very good protection for the beer, but it is not intended to replace glass," a company release said.
It added that though the size of the PET bottle appeared to be smaller than that of the glass bottles, it actually held 55 millilitres more of the brew.
