Belarus has announced the closure of 15 NGOs as part of a crackdown on independent media and civil society activists. This includes the closure of dozens of NGOs.
Groups that have been ordered to pg slot close include the Human Constanta Human Rights Center, Names charity, BelSetka Anti-AIDS and the Disability Aid.
The group's shutdown comes a day after the dictator President Alexander Lukashenko pledged to continue what he called a "death slaughterhouse." "Purge operations" against civil society activists, which he denounced as “Thieves and foreign agents”
More than 50 NGOs are facing total shutdowns. These include the Belarusian Association of Journalists, or BAJ, the largest and most respected media organization in the country, and the Belarusian PEN Center, a writer's association led by 2015 Nobel Prize in Literature winner Svetlana Alexievich.
Human Constanta said in a statement that authorities did not explain why they decided to close the group. He added that the action reflected “Increasing pressure on civil society in Belarus”
